Beyond the Stars: The Odyssey of Fifteen Boys in the Galactic Frontier
Around the huge rocket fifteen boys were standing in the closed silence of a typical launch site located in the country hills. It towered up; its silver-lustered bodies gleaming even in the wash of floodlights which illuminated the structure: a symbol of mankind’s endeavour to reach out for the stars. These boys with the aspirations as large as the universe themselves were about to enter a process that had no parallel in human experience.
Among them was Jake who decides to start a new life in a new place being the leader full of determination as space. So there was Max, the skills navigator par excellence who showed them where to go in space with blistering like accuracy. Lucas, who looks rather young but has the curiosity as insatiable as the space that the crew is planning to conquer. Every boy had different characteristics, and they created the colourful picture of young energy and persistence.
I sit through the final count down which rippled through the air, fresh and cool of the morning. Ten… nine… eight… Two faced Lase, wide-eyed and flushed, grinning at Beney who lay shaking with anticipation. Seven… six… five… The floor vibrated in response to the massive cumulonimbus of engines revving up and promising greatness.
Okay, four, three, two and one, Liftoff.
After it a move that could be described as a powerful lunge the rocket shot up vertically and vanished beyond the low layer of our planet’s atmosphere and dived headfirst into space like a silver arrow that has been fired from a heavenly bow. Manoeuvre experienced by the boys supplied the result – when gravity was no more an effective organizing impulse over the boys’ conducts, the feeling of weightlessness became the next best thing.
Inside the Orion’s small metal belly the boys were having a feast of zero-gravity and their heads being firmly placed on the helmet of their respective spacesuits that they looked through the large, transparent ports of the spacecraft at the wonders of the universe outside. Over stars sparkled like diamonds on a black background of the sky and gave the impression that the night held countless numbers of reflections of the mysterious.
Again, the rocket was moving into space little realised by man and days were turning into weeks. The sceneries that the boys tried to describe were in fact out of this world – rainbow colors in nebulas, pulsars with signals that are somewhat like a beat over Light years, distant and mysterious planets.
But it did not take too long before the couple was faced with a several challenges on the way. They were flying through the asteroid belts, the rocks of which, should hit their tin can of the ship, will reduce it into scrap metal instantly; it was all credited to Max’s genius and Lucas’ gut feeling. They went through the difficult moments which included storming in the cosmos with the difficult tests which mere boy had to go through with cooperation in which every boy had to support another.
However, in between the hardships, life presented some fascinating events that also had links between the two. Such a sight was looked right in the eye; a binary star system which was held close due to the force of gravity. They encountered a comet once, that of whose tail was ice and appeared to be as delicate as a gossamer cloth amazingly leaving them speechless.
What they discussed there was not only the celestial bodies’ phenomena, he realized. Mid the great adventure, the boys drew their first lesson in extraterrestrial, which was almost unimaginable. The enormous eyes, luminescent silhouettes and a multifaceted system of communication of the beings were as interested in the boys, as vice versa. They engaged in interactions and had relationships with each other through the help of sign language and applications in the technology even if there were many worlds between them.
As time went on months Boys started to get accustomed with what they were going to face in the spacecraft. They adhered to an ethical program of continuous scientific observations of the planets’ atmosphere, stars, and the cosmic background – a residual of the origin of the universe. They conducted tests in the ‘weightless’ environment and offered hypothesis that shifted the human society’s understanding of the physical and living world in terms of physics and biology.
But it was possible to have recreation and friendship during the studies as between the boys as well. They took the seats beside one another at the galley table where food could still seemed to emit the smell of home even when one was millions of years light from home. They described the events that occurred on other planets and the inhabitants of the planets to each other and made jokes, I heard the laughter of the two through .....
Towards the final scenes of the novel, boys start gaining appreciation of the magnitude of the task through which they passed in the course of accomplishing their mission. Thus they step where no people stepped, and experience what only the characters in sphere of fiction are capable of experiencing. They had seen birth and death of stars; zones of tides of space, which define life and non life.
At the same time, they could feel the grief as they knew that, the STAR, the LIFE as they knew was coming to an end. The candidates understood fully that one day they are returning to earth but their heads will be so filled with concepts and attitudes that are obtainable only in space.
When the boys got back to the Earth all the boys deciding once again to get at the observation deck of the space craft. Civilized quietuation, they stared at the monitor and, finally, a blue green humanistic world was enlarged by the view through the hatch of the spacecraft, space’s jewel on it’s crown. They could only say yea to satisfaction and nay to sorrow, and that sufficed to say that their had started and was now over.
Last night when rocket started to come in the atmosphere, people applauded and literally starting screaming all sorts of things about braveness and hard work done by these people. They arrived to the friendly soil, with feeling which other planets and galaxies they do not have possibility to see in the life.
Boys begin to appreciate the gravity of the task through which they went in the course of the fulfillment of that which was assigned them in the last scenes of the novel. Thus, they step where no people stepped and so experience what only the characters in the sphere of fiction may experience. They had seen the formation and destruction of stars; the regions of the tidal forces of space, which determines living and non- living.
At the same time, they could smell the sorrow that enveloped them because we all recognized that, the STAR was the LIFE as they knew was over. The candidates were fully aware that one day they are coming back to earth but their heads will be crammed with concepts and attitudes that can only be procured in space.
All the boys getting back to the Earth all the boys deciding once again to get at the observation deck of the space craft. Civilized quietuation, they sat before the monitor and at last a blue green Humanistic world was expanded by the peep through the hatch of a spacecraft, Space’s jewel in its crown. All they could say was yea to satisfaction and nay to sorrow, and with these words they expressed that their had begun and was finished.
Last night as rockets began to enter the atmosphere of the planet, people applauded and began to shout literally the most various things about courage and work of these people. They came to the friendly ground with such emotions that other planets and galaxies they cannot see in their life.
