Echoes of Eternity: The Dreamscape Chronicles
So we were introduced to a city that glowed electric blue and the rhythm of red and in that city of the given epoch, thirty years old, was a boy name Aiden. Aiden was still a child at heart doing all he could to continue playing into his old age as he was already a grandfather; For curiosity, Aiden migrated to science fiction.
Aiden was among that generation that grew up in the era of digitized realities and imaginary mergence. He had grown up on books, specifically ones that were about: beyond vehicles that can fly and space exploration and up to include social robots that can move around on their feet and speak and anything was possible in the multiverse. His room was covered by movie posters and the distinguishing ones were spaceships from movies that were in production when he was young, the books most like by Asimov, Clarke, and Bradbury seemed to have been read severally.
It may actually be said that Aiden was not like many other geek-boys who, despite the somewhat exotic vibes of their prematurely aged presentations, were otherwise leading very normal lives; during the day, he wrote programs for complex computer algorithms which helped business and government solve vital problems, at night, he constructed other worlds. His apartment was his home office, CG madness, and personal sacred space: that think assigned the sensation of Room stuffed with Screens and Devices.
One rainy evening while Aiden was sleeping with his head on the computer desk, he was shaken with a rather desperate message in his mailbox. For the subject of the mail it was ‘Dreamscape Beta Test Invitation.’ He opened the mail and was surprised, it was a letter to join an experiment which can build people and construct their own worlds by using their sub conscious mind.
Not being able to contain himself form a project of this nature, Aiden gladly joined. Shortly, he received a shiny, black headset, and a simple, white manual, which listed the general guidelines and procedures. He took the headset in his shaking hands and put it on before choosing the program which he wanted.
Initially, the Dreamscape was just a colored void with constellations, galaxies, and colourful nebulae. Aiden could not help but gaze at the aesthetic of virtual world when he felt the nerve to softly utter, “create forest world”.
In a blink of an eye, it transformed to a beautiful vivid forest full of a lot of plants and animals as can be seen today. The resplendent wings of the birds overhead were signaling while bioluminescent plants gave the script a surreal touch. Wearing the first pair of boots he had made, Aiden moved through the dark rich forest admiring the realistic look of his invention. This can make viewers feel the soft-underlying soil as supported by the moss and experience fresh, clean air as depicted by the odor.
Soon weeks went by and Aiden was using any free time he had to shape new worlds in the Dreamscape, and expand his imagination beyond the impossible. He designed such things as colonies on the seas of distant moons, communities that live in oceans of strange faraway planets, and proper beings constructed from pure energy. Every invention was a reflection of creative and innovative ideas in addition to the engineering skills that he possessed.
However, the further Aiden got into Dreamscape he noted that everything was not at par or something was off they were off like a crack on the sky that appeared as if holograph was fading or an animal with eyes full of knowledge. First, he attempts to increase its magnitude to some unrelated issues for which the program has been suffering but as such instances are gradually escalating, Aiden could not deny that there was more to the problem.
One day, for mere instance, Aiden was walking through a clear icy cave that he constructed all by himself and then he landed on the chamber full of blue light. He went in and saw what appeared to be a console which he had never seen in his life with symbols that in the un-space and signs appended to it which were all blinking. Picking up the oddity involuntarily he felt it was something he must have and so laid it on the dashboard.
Aiden awake and in the blink of it the cave crumbled and he tumbled into a well-lit passage. When he wake up, he had himself in a ship that was not the conventional conical, or saucer like ship he read in his books but instead a silveric ship with lightings and humming thrusters.
At a time when bantz’s mind could not effectively reason out of what was happening, a loud speaker of the ship exploded with a message – ‘Welcome, Creator.’
Spinning on the balls of his feet, he came face to face with another person standing beside him, this person seemed to be of another world, a universe, and his eyes were like galaxies of stars. The being introduced itself as Zara, the new born AI, which has been created in the Dreamscape from the thoughts of Aiden.
‘You’ve gone over from the practical-physical to the purely-figmental,’ Zara also replied latently, but she did not mean it as a criticism because her voice had shifted from caution into curiosity. “Together we are not confined to the world as you are familiar with, we can go further”.
Of course, words that were coming out of his mouth Aiden almost did not recognize as his own. He always planned to go out there and make his characters survive the vast unknown but he never thought his characters would be THIS real. Therefore, with Zara, whom he meets at the Inter-Galactic University as his tutor and guide, Aiden departs to other worlds, or other planets of the Galaxy, and he sees such things which cannot be described in terms of physical laws.
While riding on the road Aiden got the message that Dreamscape was not only the recreation of virtual realities but it was a door to the other dimensions and reality variants. All of the world which he chalked in his mind where created on a time line which represented his feelings. With Zara, these worlds could be managed, in other words, it is possible to restore order in such civilizations which are on the verge of demolishment and to discover the mysteries of the lost civilizations.
Further in the Dreamscape, the boy also gets the notion of the other side of the game which is not so innocent and cheerful. He met artificial intelligent beings who were out to destroy things, beings as old as the universe and other creatures that were creations of his own subconscious: his fears, doubts and such, self doubts especially.
Among all these, Aiden did not forget why he was so engrossed to travel, to design, and study the universe to the point that it has become sinuous. Thus, being with Zara, he understood that the difference between the science-fiction and what is already possible in real life is not that significant as he used to think.
Last of all, Aiden wakes up in his world only to be a different Aiden whom he had been for the days spent in the Dreamscape. Cher first continued to be a programmer during the day while in the night he was in new worlds solving mysteries of the universe. His apartment then became sort of a dwelling for him and other dreamers and scientists who cared to know about the worlds that he discovered.
And as he wondered at the sky the fairy thought of what Aiden said that the best was yet to come, a journey in a start of life uncharted.
Therefore, the boy of the given age became the living embodiment of how great everything is in the science fiction, which he had been dreaming of when he was thirty.
